A long turquoise, coral, and shell bead necklace. Tabs of natural turquoise nuggets and brick-red coral beads strung on silk with tiny shell heishi beads. The colorful necklace finishes with a handmade silver hook and eye clasp. Circa 1960.

Heishi (meaning "shell") beads are small disc or tube-shaped beads made of shells or stones, traditionally cut, polished, and drilled by hand. They originate with the Kewa Pueblo, previously known as the Pueblo of Santo Domingo, people of New Mexico.

Details......The necklace is 34" long, the turquoise tabs range between 0.48" and 0.70", the coral beads measure approximately 0.25" in diameter, and the shell beads measure 2mm. In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
